Alabama vs Illinois @ Legacy Arena (Neutral Site in Birmingham, Alabama)

This should be one of the most entertaining games in the college basketball season. Illinois has a brand new team this season and now play a very similar style to Alabama. Both of these teams are Run & Gun. Fast tempo, spread offense, 3s & rim runs. Through the first three games, Illinois has put up a ridiculous 57% 3P rate. Everyone on their team has the green light from 3P range including multiple bigs. Illinois is also a very big team... Kasparas Jakucionis, the starting point guard, is 6'6. The majority of their minutes comes with 3 more players 6'8 - 7'1... That will be a problem for Alabama on defense. While Mark Sears is a matchup problem on offense, he will likely be a liability on defense in this one.

As for Alabama, they are as good as it gets. They still play the same style in years past under Nate Oats. 3s & Rim Runs with nothing in between. They also prefer to play with pace... Over the last two games the tempo has been slowed down vs McNeese St & Purdue, two pretty damn good teams who play at a deliberately slow pace. Against this powerful Illinois offense that likes to run, Alabama will look to use their speed as an advantage. Like I said earlier, Spears may be a liability on defense, but this is the kind of game he takes over on offense. Illinois does not have the speed to switch on the hundreds of screens that will be set tonight. He will either force the double team or find a 1v1 matchup that he will shred.

This would be a heavier wager if not for the neutral arena, but feel the pace, matchups and shot selection will outweigh any slow start from the field. With both teams being solid offensive rebounding teams, that is an additional booster. Never can get enough boosters..

Over 167.5 (-110) *Consensus
