Memphis vs Utah St
Utah St (+7)
This is a perfect matchup for Utah St's defense. Memphis slings it around the field at one of the highest clips in the country. Utah St's pass defense has been stout all year long (take away against Alabama) while thier run defense has been weak all year. Against the worst run defenses Memphis faced this year, they were still unable to efficiently move the ball on the ground. That is music to the ears of the Utah St defensive coordinator. Even considering the 55-0 Alabama whooping, Utah St ranked 27th in the country in DEF Pass Rank. Against teams more on their competition level, they were even better. Mobile QBs have especially killed Utah St, but Henigan is far from that today. He can move around alright, but will not be killing the Aggies with his legs.
As for Utah St on offense, Memphis has one of the worst secondaries in NCAAF. Utah St should be able to move the ball today. Against the best defenses, they have definitely struggled. Memphis is not that. If Memphis gets a lead, the backdoor will be a very real possibility given the struggles on the backend.
